DRAFT RATIONALE & REMINDERS
Reminders
Draft Day
Post-Draft
- An actual NFL players success or failure in no way correlates or affects the success or failure of an NBL player. While Russell Wilson may be considered one of the best QBs in the modern era, his availability in the NBL does not mean he will be successful...In fact, he may not even make a roster. Likewise, Blake Bortles may become an NBL legend.
- Remember, "intangible" player ratings - Endurance, Intelligence, and Discipline - are not immediately available to us, and will only be seen one time after the draft. Therefore, while a rookie may have the physical abilities that your veterans do (speed, acceleration, strength, etc), like most rookies, he probably isn't ready to excel at the NBL level in his first year or two. Also like real life, there are exceptions...guys who will be exceptional from day 1 and a few others right in the middle.
- Like Coaches, QBs in the NBL have a special leadership rating that can elevate or sink your teams ratings. Some QBs can elevate your players up to 5 points, others can sink them. You will only know how your QB leads through observation. Don't like the way your team is playing? Think about making a QB change.
Draft Day
- Draft will start promptly.
- The draft will take place using Google Meet.
- When selecting a player, please text or send a private chat to the commissioner. <Your Team> select <Player Name>. The comissioner will confirm by stating the next team is on the clock.
- Each team will have :60 seconds to make their pick. Failure to meet the :90 requirement will result in being skipped and back on the clock after the next team picks.
- Any trade conversation should take place via private text message.. Please do not clutter that chat room with negotiations.
- All trades that occur during the draft must be cleared through the commissioner by BOTH teams.
- All proposed trades with a computer owned team must be approved through the commissioner.
- To keep track of selected players, please use the online draft tracker.
Post-Draft
- To clear space on your team for your draft picks, most teams will need to release players. Please anticipate clearing up to 7 players from your roster. The commissioner will make each owner aware of how many players they will need to release.
- All college players who are not drafted will be released to the free agent pool. Any team may make an offer to free agents following the draft.
- In the case of multiple teams offering a single unsigned free agent, tie-breaking rules will apply. That is, when offering a Free Agent a contract, state the team, player name, position, and a random # between 1-1000. For example: "The Arizona Cardinals offer Zack Smith, QB, a free agent contract. #388". If multiple teams offer the same player, the owner with the # closest to the randomly selected # will win the bidding war.
